   Is a really cool ice cube mould. Only problem is knowing where to fill it up to. Too much and it expands when frozen leavings a large gap between sides. Too little and you get a large hole in the top. Once you figure it out though (trial and error im afraid) it does look awesome! Is a nice big ice cube too so doesnt dilute your drinks too quickly. Great for any star wars fan.

   OK, so these are multipurpose molds, but I’m not really the kind of person who makes candles or chocolate shapes, so I’m here to tell you about using these to make ice cubes. Make no mistake, these make *big* ice cubes, nearly 6cm in diameter. Gigantic ice cubes are rather in vogue at the moment, and so is Star Wars, what with the forthcoming movie, so this must be a perfect combination, right? Very nearly.

   With a little care, these can indeed make very nice ice spheres. As expected, they look just like the iconic Death Star from the original movie, and due to their small surface area:volume ratio, they work just great at keeping your drink cold for a long time, without diluting it too much.

   Two small flaws stop it being a 5-star product. Firstly, it’s tricky to get the volume of water right. The two halves snap together, and you’re meant to pour water in through the hole at the top. However, if you fill it to the brim, you’re in for a surprise – water expands as it cools, so the 2 halves split apart, allowing the still-liquid part to leak all over your freezer and make for an unhappy result. If you put in too little water, you’re going to get a Return Of The Jedi-style unfinished (but fully operational?) space station.

   That said, once you master the knack, you can churn out ice cubes that look great. Lots of fun.

   I laughed and laughed when I opened these as they are HUGE! Not sure if we have any glasses big enough to fit them in (as bought them to go in spirits, therefore spirit glasses which are small). A fun semi cheap gift for a Star Wars fan. I’m sure he’ll be happy with them.
