This is a nice little mould well worth the money. I was a bit frustrated trying to get the soap out of the mould first time, but by putting it in in the freezer for half an hour before removing your soap the soap comes out very easily.

Had a bit more success with this mould than the heart one and the butterfly one. Did manage to unmould some of the soaps, but still 50% came out damaged.

Fantastic in detail, with good idea’s, 11 Dec. 2001

I currently run a small soap loaf business. This book has solved certain problems that I was having with colour bleeding, and soap cracking.
Very good reference to both the experienced as well as the beginner.
Also full of good idea’s for someone starting out – as I was.

Handy melt and pour projects, 13 Feb. 2011

As you can probably guess from the spelling of the title, this book was published in the US. This means that some of the measurements are in cups or ounces, but it’s easy enough to find conversion charts online, and I suggest printing one and sticking it in the front for easy reference.

Having been published in 2000, a few of the pictures are looking quite dated now, but I still purchased it as I find it very difficult to find books on the subject of melt and pour soap making (or melt and mold as it’s referred to here), which is the craft of making soap from ready made soap base.

The book is actually a very handy reference. It starts off with step by step instructions on making melt and pour soap and also features a troubleshooting guide for any problems you may encounter and advice on colouring and additives such as herbs. There are a huge amount of different projects in here, and each has a difficulty rating, which is handy for a beginner. I don’t think this book quite beats Elaine Stavert’s `Soaps’ but if you’re looking for some new projects I’d recommend giving it a try.
